5th- SPRING SHOWCASE! (For TWO-THREE students only!)

Help prepare a showcase of what you have learned in APES and show off various projects you and your peers have created! Then be present at the Spring Open House to show parents the awesome work you have done!
Space is limited! Each APES teacher will be represented by only 2-3 students. 
You must be available from 5-7pm on March 2nd.

4th- Caring for Fruit Trees; Saturday 2/21

  1. Keep Coppell Beautiful Environmental Education "Fruits of our Labor: Caring for Fruit Trees" Class

Learn methods of planting, winter care, pruning tips, as well as how to select the best variety for the Texas climate. Class lead by expert arborist, Steve Houser. Free to the public and registration is not required. For more information, www.coppellcommunitygarden.org. Saturday, February 21 11am-12:30pm. Biodiversity Education Center.

4th- LTP Activity of Your Choice!

  1. You may choose to do some other activity that relates to your LTP. This must be approved prior to completing the activity by conferencing with your teacher.

4th-Veganism



How difficult is it to be a vegan? For this challenge, try out a healthy, vegan diet for THREE full days, based on veggies, fruit, whole grains, and legumes. Reflect on your experience, noting what you ate each day, the pitfalls you faced, how you felt, and where you got your nutrients from.

Note: If you did this challenge for the 3rd six weeks, YOU MAY repeat it for the 4th six weeks but you will increase your challenge to FIVE full days.

4th- TEDtalk



  1. Choose a TEDtalk related to global climate change or biodiversity loss.

    Watch the TEDtalk and write a thoughtful reflection in your blog. Discuss how the animal agriculture industry plays a part in these issues. 
    Be sure to include the video in your blog post by embedding or attaching a link.

    Note: If you did this challenge for the 2nd or 3rd six weeks, you may not repeat it for the 4th six weeks.







4th- LTP Book Study

Choose a book related to your LTP to read. Give a review and summary of what you learned from the book. (ex.Animal, Vegetable, Miracle- Barbara Kingslover; Silent Spring- Rachel Carson)

You may read a portion for this six weeks and continue for another six weeks.
